SAN FRANCISCO, August 2 (IANS) – Aiming to make the platform easier and more convenient for premium users, music streaming giant Spotify has announced the launch of a new custom shuffle and play button.
The company says this new change will allow Premium users to select their preferred mode at the top of playlists and albums and listen to them the way they want.
“Music and how you listen to it should be in your control. So from the moment you hit play on Spotify, you decide how you want to hear your favorite playlist or the new album you’re obsessed with,” the company said in a blog post.
“To make this choice clearer and easier, we’re improving the listening experience and separating the shuffle and play buttons for Spotify Premium users,” he added.
The company announced that a new update will be rolling out globally for iOS and Android mobile devices for Spotify Premium users in the coming weeks.
Spotify recently announced that they now have 433 million monthly active users (MAU), up 19 million (YoY) and ahead of the company’s guide of 5 million.
Its premium subscribers grew 14% to 188 million in the April-June quarter, from 182 million in the first quarter.
The company announced that advertising revenue increased 31 percent to 13 percent of total revenue, reflecting growth across all regions and distribution channels.
