Several people were injured and a man was taken into custody Monday morning after shootings at at least three locations outside Vancouver, British Columbia, police said.

It was not immediately clear how many people were injured or if anyone died in the shooting, prompting authorities to send emergency calls to cell phones in the area. They said an assassination team had been dispatched to the area.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said it was responding to reports of gunfire being fired “at several different locations in the city and district of Langley,” about 30 miles southeast of downtown Vancouver.
