Illinois Democrats Propose New Gerrymandered Congressional Maps

Democrats in Illinois proposed on Friday a new set of highly Gerrymandering parliamentary maps that would consolidate the democratic power of the state’s parliamentary delegation and reduce the number of state Republican seats from five to three.

The proposal was held by Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an adversary of Trump, whose current district embraces the suburbs of Chicago and parts of northern and central Illinois. Will eliminate the friendly seats.

If approved by the State Democratic House of Representatives and Senate, the map will be one of the most gerrymandering in the country. Designed to select democratic candidates, the two districts meandered hundreds of miles of rural areas to connect small democratic-minded communities. And 42 of the 102 counties in the state Princeton Gerrymandering Project..

The current delegation of the Illinois House of Representatives consists of 13 Democrats and 5 Republicans. The proposal will probably be 14 Democrats and 3 Republicans. The state has lost its seat for reallocation.

Other state legislators in the country have also sought to maximize the party’s dominance during the ten-year constituency change process. Democrats in Oregon have drawn only one of the six Republican districts on a new map of the state. In Texas, Republicans aim to push their advantages to minimize democratic districts.

The proposed 17th district of Illinois, now represented by the Democratic Cheri Bustos, stretches in a crescent shape along the northwestern border of the state, north of Rockford and Peoria, and Bloomington, home of Illinois State University. Connects two cities, normal and normal. Driving the length of the district without leaving it will cover 332 miles.

District 13 on the new map connects the diverse suburban communities east of St. Louis, the capital of Springfield, with the university towns of Champaign and Urbana, more than three hours’ drive away.

The proposal leaves the jaw-shaped Fourth District, one of the most winding districts in the United States, connecting the Hispanic districts north and south of Chicago. At the mouth of the proposed District 4, there is District 7, one of three districts depicted as having multiple black voters.

Sixth-term lawmaker Kinzinger said he would seek re-election to the House of Representatives for several months and ran for Democratic incumbent, JB Pritzker, or Senate to Governor Tammy Duckworth. I rejected the proposal to do so. But on Friday, Mr Kinzinger said he would consider looking for another office as his home was pulled into a Democratic district held by Congressman Marie Newman.

“Following the release of the new Illinois Parliamentary Map, my team and I will spend time examining them and considering all options, including those outside the home,” Kinzinger said. Said in a statement issued by his office.

“I’m just talking about options,” Kinzinger said in a text message and refused to elaborate.
