Dogecoin and Shiba Inu payments available on AMC mobile app

AMC Theaters, the largest cinema chain in the United States, has started accepting Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and other altcoins on its platform. Earlier this year, the company’s CEO announced that the platform would accept prominent memes starting in March.

Although implementation was a bit delayed, AMC eventually started to adopt DOGE and SHIB. Users can now use their cryptocurrency to buy movie tickets directly through the AMC app for Android and iOS.

AMC Theater has been pro-crypto for a while. The company’s CEO, Adam Aron, is a public defender of crypto and its multiple uses. AMC first started accepting cryptocurrencies in November 2021 with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. With its latest inclusion, AMC has surpassed rival Regal Cinemas as the theater network that accepts the most cryptocurrency in the United States.

The AMC app integrates with BitPay to seamlessly accept crypto payments. BitPay recently formed a technical partnership with Nium, a Singapore-based cross-border payment solution. Through this partnership, BitPay has developed an API-based solution that allows companies like AMC to accept real-time crypto payments from their users. This initiative will drive the wider integration of crypto payments into the global e-commerce industry.

Dogecoin and Shiba Inu continue to see wider adoption

In the past year, the leading meme coin has spread widely in the industry. DOGE limited payouts were announced by auto giant Tesla earlier this year as SHIB rolled out to major platforms like Twitch and Newegg. Shiba Inu also received the long-awaited Robinhood List last week. The practical use of the two me coins is growing rapidly, and greater integration is imminent.
