Akon, an American singer who debuted in 2004 with the single Locked up, officially released his cryptocurrency AKOIN, which supports the virtual universe he developed in April. Since the beginning of the year, the singer has shown an interest in the cryptocurrency market and describes himself as an active investor.
The official AKOIN token website shows how it works in the Akon City meta-universe and how it supports crypto trading. According to AKOIN, it is a crypto-based blockchain network focused on providing services or being a tool for startups in Africa.
This is not the first time an artist has shown their appeal in the cryptocurrency market. On this occasion, Akon, who rose to fame more than a decade ago, reveals his next achievements in the crypto market with AKOIN.
On Instagram, the star revealed how important the AKOIN project is to the future development of Akon City, the metaverse of which will begin in April 2021. The singer completed the post with an image showing a pre-made TDC with a badge claiming to represent the brand.
Akon says its AKOIN TOC is ready for crypto enthusiasts. This credit card is used to easily and securely pay for goods and services using cryptocurrencies managed by BitMart, one of the most secure exchanges for cryptocurrency transactions.
From famous singers to cryptocurrency pioneers
Although Akon has done well in the music industry, this achievement may not have been enough in his life, so he researched cryptocurrencies. Artists are passionate about the crypto space and are trying to create solutions that fans and friends alike can use. AKOIN can be a cryptocurrency that combines virtual and physical cryptocurrencies via a credit card promoted by the artist.
The token is currently successful, worth $0.1629, and has a market cap that now exceeds $73,293,500, according to CoinMarketCap. The cryptocurrency is number 4411 among the most used and could climb the list after hitting an all-time high of $0.5816.
Acon agrees that the cryptocurrency market has a future, but other celebrities like Snoop Dogg and even entrepreneurs like Elon Musk are praising it. In fact, many entrepreneurs only accept payments in cryptocurrencies to strengthen the commitment they show on social networks. Over the next few days, urban genre artists will be able to report on the progress that AKOIN presented in November.
